Attack on Titan E25 Wall Assault on Stohess, Part 3

Spoliers !!!

k2-_c1760eea-fdd0-4fb7-be96-8b2c0a4bcff4.v1

The Epic battle between Erin Annie begins and while they are fighting we start to see flashbacks of Annie’s past, in these flashbacks Annie seems to be with her father and it appears that he may be the reason that Annie has the titan ability it all seems very similar to how Erin’s father gave him the titan ability, I wonder where Erin’s father is because we haven’t seen him since part 1.

Annie and her father flashback

Annie manages to beat Erin half to death by constantly smashing his head when he trapped in a corner and after he seems defeated she makes a run for the wall in an attempt to escape, but unluckily for her Erin gets back up and he appears to have gained the same amount of power as her, Erin’s eyes have now turned blue, he has strange red markings all over his body and he appears to be on fire, also his voice has now changed from Erin’s usual voice to something more dark and menacing.

Erins new titan form

Erin manages to tackle Annie just before she reaches the wall and he crushes her face with the fist of his new body, after all of this Annie still manages to get away and starts climbing the wall but luckily Mikasa swoops in and slices off all of Annie’s fingers making her fall to the ground, when Annie hits the ground Erin pounces in her and starts ripping her body to pieces like and animal on its prey, he finally sees Annie in her human form but he stops himself from killing her when he sees that there are tears streaming down her face.

Annie crying

In an unusual turn of events both Annie and Erin start to merge bodies which I’m sure would give some pretty awesome results but after realising how dangerous this could be Captain Levi quickly cuts Erin out of his titan body.

After rescuing Erin the scouts notice that Annie has cocooned herself in what appears to be the material that shielded her from attacks in the previous episodes, she also seems to be in a coma which is good because it means that she wont harm anyone but its also bad because now the scouts cant get any information out of her.

Annie’s Cocooned body is now under constant watch both day and night and the episode ends with a narrator telling us that “it would still take much sacrifice and time before humanity learned what it was that held them captive” and during this speech the camera zooms in on Erin’s body showing us the key to his dads basement.

This episode was great and a fantastic end to both part 2 and season 1 of Attack on Titan, it was surprising to see Annie having all of those flashbacks because it helps show that maybe she isn’t as bad as she is portrayed to be and it also shows that there may be a lot more people who have been given the titan ability, we haven’t seen Erin’s dad in a long time so maybe he is part of an organisation that secretly admires the titans and maybe that’s why he gave Erin the titan ability and it is also possible that Annie’s father may be part of this secret organisation as well.

I am certain that there will be a season 2 of Attack on Titan due to its popularity and its many unanswered questions, I cant wait until I can learn more about Attack on Titan and its many dark secrets.

Attack on Titan E24 Mercy Assault on Stohess, Part 2

Spoilers !!!

k2-_c1760eea-fdd0-4fb7-be96-8b2c0a4bcff4.v1

The episode begins with a flashback showing the scouts planning the trap they set for Annie in the last episode, it was Armin who figured out it was Annie and he gives his theory as too why Annie is the female titan to Erwin.

Erin is disgusted that Armin and the rest of the scouts have agreed that Annie is the bad guy with no physical evidence and he keeps this denial through out the remainder of the episode.

This denial prevents Erin from transforming into a Titan when Annie has himself, Mikasa and Armin trapped in the tunnel she refused to go into, because Erin wont transform Mikasa questions whether he has feelings for Annie which is a possibility but I have my doubts as too whether this is true.

Erin cant transform in the tunnel

Armin realises that a change of plan is needed and both himself and Mikasa exit through opposite ends of the tunnel hoping that Annie will chase one of them giving the other two time to escape, Erin begs them both to come back but Armin keeps running and Mikasa tells Erin that “the world is cruel” a lesson the he taught her very early into the show, unfortunately this plan did not work because instead of chasing either Mikasa or Armin, Annie stomps through the roof crushing Erin under the debris where he remains for the majority of the episode.

Erin under the debris

Armin finds Erin and tries to get him out of the debris he calls over Jean to help, but one look at Erin and Jean realises that its too late to save him and the only way he could possibly survive is if  he transforms, Armin tells Erin that “To defeat monsters, you have to be willing to throw aside your humanity” Armin distracts Annie in order to keep her away from Erin, Erin thinks about what Armin says and he has flashbacks of all the people he loved and cared for who had been killed by the titans and after he has a flashback of his mother being eaten he finally transforms and the episode ends with his fist making impact with Annie’s cheek.

Erin transformed and ready to fight Annie again

This episode was awesome I really appreciate that we got to see the scouts planning the attack and I also really appreciate that the the episode showed the clues that helped Armin figure out that the female titan was Annie, the animation was absolutely outstanding this time around as it was well detailed and had a very fine use of shadows and shading, the episode was very emotional and as much as I don’t believe that Erin has feelings for Annie I do believe that he has a lot of serious mental health problems such as Anger issues and problems from his past that have left a serious impact on him.

This episode was great cant wait for episode 25

Attack on Titan E23 Smile Assault on Stohess, Part 1

Spoilers !!!

k2-_c1760eea-fdd0-4fb7-be96-8b2c0a4bcff4.v1

The episode begins with an introduction to the Military Police, we get to see some new characters who all have interesting personalities, we are also able to catch up with Annie Leonhart who is a character that we have not seen in quite a while.

One of the new characters in Annie’s division believes that the Military Police is corrupt, he sees two senior members illegally selling Military Police equipment to a black market and when he questions the two men on this they beat him with the end of their rifles until he can hardly stand up and they are only stopped by Annie who threatens to expose them to the towns people watching the scene they have caused.

annie stopping the superior

It turns out that Annie’s group were heading towards a horse and wagon that is holding Erin inside, their job is to escort Erin and the Survey Corps to what I believe is Erin’s trial, it is at this trial that he will find out whether he will live or die.

During the escort Armin whispers to Annie from within an alley way he is wearing a cloak to cover his body and it is very clear that he is hiding from both the Military Police and the civilians, he asks Annie if she will help himself, Mikasa and Erin out of the city so that they can escape, at first she is against the idea but Armin soon persuades her to change her mind.

armin and annie in alleyway

Annie’s walks Erin, Mikasa and Armin to an outer gate that they can use to exit the city, in order for them to use the gate they all need to go underground for a short while but Annie is very hesitant to do so, she keeps saying that she afraid of the dark and none of them can convince her to follow them Erin starts screaming at her to move begging her to help him survive, this is one of the first times we have seen Erin genuinely this terrified, after a while Mikasa has had enough and tells Annie that she will rip her to shreds just like she did back in the forest.

Annie starts to laugh uncontrollably its honestly very creepy her laughs soon turn into a psychopathic grim and its immediately clear what is going on, a bunch of towns people and Survey Corps tackle Annie to the ground and gag her mouth, but unfortunately the ring on her finger has spike on it, mikasa grabs Arimn and Erin and runs to the city’s exit, the episode ends with an explosion of light and we finally find out that Annie is the female titan which was a very unexpected twist.

The episode started off a little slow and I found difficult to get engaged with what was going on, I really like the new characters especially that one guy who wants to change the Military Police as he reminded me of Erin in the first few episodes of the show, It was really cool to see Erin so afraid of what was going to happen to him as we havent truly seen Erin showing fear at such a high level before although this may have been put on as part of the plan to capture Annie.

Attack on Titan E22 Defeated The 57th Exterior Scouting Mission, Part 6

Spoilers !!!

k2-_c1760eea-fdd0-4fb7-be96-8b2c0a4bcff4.v1

After the female titan took Erin in the last episode Mikasa wants to have revenge by taking the female titans life, Captain Levi believes that Erin is dead but he also realises that he needs Erin’s abilities so he tells Mikasa that their only objective is too remove Erin from the female titans body before she leaves the forest.

Captain Levi manages to chase down the female titan and he quickly slices at each of her muscles leaving her motionless, Mikasa attempts to kill the titan but Captain Levi quickly stops her knowing that this is impossible, they both spot Erin’s body covered in slime laying on the female titan’s tongue, they quickly grab Erin and leave the forest but surprisingly this has left the female titan quite emotional as a single tear runs down her cheek, who is the Titan and why is she so emotionally attached to Erin?

female titan cryingDuring their escape the survey corps are being chased by a titan who is getting closer and closer to them, they are unable to out run this titan due to the weight of all of the corpses in their wagons, a very emotional scene plays where the soldiers have to abandon the bodies in order to gain more speed to escape, its a very sad thought that the soldiers could be letting go of the bodies of some of their best friends.

We see that Erin is alive during the wagon chase which is a very comforting thought, we get to see sensitive side to Captain Levi who gives a soldier called Dieter the badge of his friend Ivan, he was very upset because he had to throw his friends corpse away and Captain Levi gave him this to help him cope with the loss, its a very touching moment.

Ivans Badge

The soldiers return to town after failing their mission, the towns folks are very ungrateful for the sacrifice of the soldiers and they keep complaining about the wasted money and they blame the soldiers for the many deaths that happened over the course of the mission, the criticism upsets Erin but he soon sees a little boy who is very excited and this reminds Erin of himself many years ago.

All of those responsible for the missions failure have been summoned to the capital and Erin is to most likely be handed over to the Military Police who wanted him killed during the court case.

I really enjoyed this episode, there was not as much action sequences as the last episode but the emotional moments were very well directed and left me feeling very emotional, Attack on Titan is a very serious show even if it may seem a little silly too some people, I really hope that Erin does not get handed to the Military Police as that would not leave humanity with much hope at all.

great episode but I did enjoy the last episode just a little bit more

Attack on Titan E21 Crushing Blow The 57th Exterior Scouting Mission, Part 5

Spoilers !!!

k2-_c1760eea-fdd0-4fb7-be96-8b2c0a4bcff4.v1

Even after she was recently devoured the female titan is chasing after the special operations squadron, since all other plans to capture the titan have failed the special opts decide to try blinding her by slicing out her eyes on coordinated strikes, they then start using more coordinate strikes to attack her arm muscles so that she cannot move her arms to protect the weak spot.

female titan no eyes

Unfortunately this plan did not work as the female titan concentrates all of her energy into just one eye and it regenerates in under 30 seconds and she soons kills Petra, Eldo and Oluo of Squad Levi.

Erin sees all of this chaos and he soon comes to the realisation that he should have transformed into a Titan much earlier into the mission but he instead put trust into his comrades who are now all dead, Erin realises that he could have saved many lives if he just listened to his conscience and this thought makes him very sad and very angry.

Erin has had enough and he finally returns to Titan form to tackle the female Titan in a battle to the death.

Erin Titan and female titan fighting Both of the titans fight for what can only be hours and they are both very worn out but unfortunately the female titan knocks Erin’s head clean off and then she pulls Erin out of the body and eats him, Mikasa sees this and she is absolutely distraught Mikasa chases after the female titan and she try’s to slash at her unprotected neck but her blades are completely destroyed, this shows that the female titan might be invincible and that is not good news for the soldiers, Mikasa believes that Erin is still alive and she vows to somehow release  him from within the female titans stomach.

This episode was fantastic, we got to see the female titan at her very worst in an awesome titan battle with Erin, we also see the possibility of the female titan being invincible and I find that to be a very terrifying thought, I really liked that the message of this episode was that you should not always listen to your friends or  comrades as they may be wrong, its little messages like this that make me love this show as much as I do.

Attack on Titan E18 Forest of Giant Trees The 57th Exterior Scouting Mission, Part 2

Spoilers !!!

k2-_c1760eea-fdd0-4fb7-be96-8b2c0a4bcff4.v1

Armin, Reiner and Jean are in a bit of pickle due to them being stuck in a open field with only one horse between the three of them. They all agree that one should be left behind while the other two will go out and find help, as you may expect Armin nominates himself to stay behind but luckily Krista Lens turns up with two extra horses after she spots their smoke signal.

Krista Lens

The female titan is now a huge threat, three survey corps attack her at the same time each aiming for a different weak spot but the titan jumps making them all fly off of her and crash and she even grabs one and spins him like lasso before throwing him into the ground, another one of the survey corps tries to run away to warn the others but the female titan soon catches up and stops him.

cowgirl titan yeehaw

With just a few survey corps left the plan was a complete failure and Commander Erwin strangely tells the remaining groups to head towards the Forest of Giant Trees, this is very mysterious idea because due to the narrow landscape of the area avoiding titan attacks will be near impossible.

Armin’s group have been told to remain in the trees in order to keep titans from entering the forest.

Titans at the trees

Of course this plan wont work for the female titan who manages to run straight through the forest destroying everything in her path, many try to stop her and those foolish enough to attempt to slay her are killed in the process, after realising that the normal titan slaying tactic wont work on this titan Captain Levi shoots a smoke signal knowing that no one outside of the forest will see it, so what could his plan possibly be?

Another fantastic episode, its quite amazing because everything went wrong with the plan due to the intelligence and great strength of this new titan and to be honest I was little scared for the survey corps and even now that the episode is over I am still nervous but also excited about what’s going to happen next.

I am so happy that Krista Lens played an important role in this episode we have seen her in the series before but only as a background character so its really cool to see her as a more important character in the series.

Again this was amazing I hope the next episode is the same

Attack on Titan E14 Can’t Look Into His Eyes Yet Eve of the Counterattack, Part 1

Spoilers !!!

k2-_c1760eea-fdd0-4fb7-be96-8b2c0a4bcff4.v1

Attack on Titan is finally back and I am extremely hyped to review all of Part 2, but before we begin I have one question Why did they change the theme song?

I loved the old theme song it was intense and really fun to sing along too,  I still have it stuck in my head from when I reviewed part 1 last year, the new one just doesn’t feel right to me but that’s just my opinion and I wont let this effect my opinion on the actual episode.

Erin is still locked up in that dungeon where we left him last time, some scouts who are unknown to Erin release him from his prison and appear to be taking him somewhere.

Erin being transported to the court roomErin soon finds out that the scouts are taking him to a court room where he will be on trial to find out whether he will end up in the custody of the military police or the survey corps.

Both of these groups want Erin for different reasons and both have very different ideas on what will be Erin’s fate, the military police plan to execute and dispose of Erin as soon as possible because they believe that he is too dangerous to be kept alive, the survey corps plan to use Erin to the benefit of the soldiers by employing him to use his titan ability to take out a large amount of titans and to help with more difficult tasks, such as when Erin moved the boulder back in episode 13.

Erin on trial

As you can imagine there are lots of arguments between both of these groups and it does not seem that Erin will be staying alive much longer.

The Judge reminds the court room that Erin tried to kill Mikasa when he was in titan form (This is from episode 11) when he attempted to punch her.

This again sets everyone off but they are quickly silenced by the Judge, Erin does not remember trying to hurt Mikasa and is understandably very confused the Judge asks if this is true and Mikasa admits that it did happen, but she also reminds the court room that Erin saved her life twice prior to this while he was in titan form.

Everyone starts worrying that Mikasa might be a titan too and of course due to this they also feel that she should die, this finally sets off a very quiet Erin, he begs them that Mikasa is innocent but this only scares the military police who aim a rifle at his head and are about to shoot.

Before anything drastic happens Captain Levi walks over to Erin and starts beating the crap into him, he hits him so hard that even one of Erin’s teeth gets knocked out of his mouth. This triggers Mikasa to help but Armin quickly stops her before she gets herself killed.

Armin stopping Mikasa

Captain Levi’s strange behaviour turned out to be his plan to get the Judge to turn Erin over to the survey corps.

Because Captain Levi has shown that he has full control over Erin and that he could kill him if needed too, the survey corps explain a plan to take Erin outside of the Walls to see if he really has full control when he transforms, if he is successful they will use him for their main goal of taking back Zhiganshina and eventually getting into the basement of his old home, if he fails they agree with the Judge that they will kill him, the Judge agrees to this and the survey corps win the trial.

While the Survey Corps are celebrating Hanji Zoe (One of the scouts that brought him to the court room) asks to see inside of his mouth but she is shocked to find out that his missing tooth has grown back.

This episode was really intense I had no idea what was going to happen and the arguments in the court room made me very nervous for Erin, the animation was amazing it was very smooth and extremely well done this episode showed some of the best animation I have seen from the show so far, as much as this episode was really intense and fun to watch I will admit that it was a little hard to follow, I wasn’t really sure what was going on a lot of the time because many new characters were brought in all at once and I needed to watch the court scene three times before I truly understood everything that was being explained.

Apart from this the episode was very intense and a great start to part 2
