Whittards: Luxury White Hot Chocolate Review

304170-luxury-white-hot-chocolate-1

I love Hot Chocolate, its a sugary and heavenly delight that I enjoy treating myself on to on a fairly regular basis. I was gifted a tub of Luxury White Hot Chocolate for Christmas by a very good friend of mine and I think it is only fair that I talk about it.

First of all you do not get white chocolate chunks to mix into your hot milk as it is portrayed in the above photograph, you get powder mix which is not a bad thing by any means its just not what is pictured on Whittards website.

As you can see from the above picture I have almost finished my tub.

The Ingredients of Whittards Luxury White Hot Chocolate are

Sugar, Cocoa Butter (15%), Skimmed Milk Powder, Whey Powder (Milk), Dextrose, Salt, Flavouring, Emulsifier: E450.

One Serving (3 heaped tea spoons) of Whittards Luxury White Hot Chocolate Includes

91 Calories

3.0 grams of Fat

15.4 grams of Carbohydrates

0.8 grams of Protein

and

0.23 grams of Salt

This is a really good Hot Chocolate, I’m not often a big fan of White Hot Chocolate in general but I have really enjoyed this blend, the smell is mouth watering and the flavor reminds me of melted Vanilla Ice Cream, I will definitely be buying more of this Hot Chocolate in the future and I might even check out some of Whittards other flavors.

Its a lovely blend of Hot Chocolate and deserves nothing more than a 10/10.

The Christmas Wish (1998) Review

THEChristmasWish_lg

Business man Will Martin (Neil Patrick Harries) is visiting his Grandmother for her first Christmas since her husband past away, while looking through some of his grandfather’s old journals Will discovers that his Grandfather had a secret woman in his life called Lillian, Will sets out to find this woman in order to help put his Grandmother’s mind at peace but this journey may be much more difficult than he anticipated.

3571-2

I’m not quite sure how I feel about this movie, the plot was very interesting and through out the entire film I was trying to figure out who Lillian was and at times I wasn’t sure if we would even find out, the film was very slow which was its biggest problem because it had this really interesting plot that should have grabbed the attention of the viewer but half the time I was falling asleep due to how badly paced and boring the film was.

the-christmas-wish-1998

Only half of the cast gave an effort to show any enthusiasm at all, most of the actors I found to be either really boring or extremely annoying, the little boy who was obsessed with Dinosaurs did not help at all, I don’t know what it is but for some reason six year old’s are extremely headache inducing on camera, the little boy in this film was almost as annoying as the little boy in The Babadook (if you haven’t seen the Babadook trust me the little boy is the absolute worst).

the-christmas-wish-1998d

On a lighter note given all of my complaints its at least a really nice movie which tries to spread what is apparently the meaning of Christmas, I’m actually really surprised that this isn’t aired on TV that often as it’s a really unique and different kind of Christmas movie and even though I complained that the some of the cast are really annoying they wont ruin the film for you this isn’t Jim Carrey stars in the Grinch so you don’t have too much to worry about.

An unknown Christmas film that is probably unknown for a reason, still worth giving this one a shot though.

Birthday Cake M and M’s Review

DSC_0076

When I saw that you could get Birthday Cake flavoured M and M’s I was immediately confused because birthday cake is not a flavour, yeah you eat it on someone’s birthday but the cake is always a certain type of cake such as chocolate, sponge, carrot etc, at least that’s how things tend to work in the UK.

One Pack of Birthday Cake M and M’s has

190 calories

70 fat calories

8g total fat

5g saturated fat

0g trans fat

5mg cholesterol

30mg sodium

28g total carbs

1g fiber

25g sugar

2g protein

Vitamin A

Vitamin C

4 percent calcium

2 percent iron

You may not be able to notice in the above picture but compared to original M and M’s the Birthday Cake M and M’s are almost double in size and they only come in a variety of three colours Red, Yellow and Blue

DSC_0079

underneath the shell lies the usual Milk Chocolate that you will find inside of  any other M and M’s  candy but what surprised me the most was the flavour of the chocolate because it legitimately tastes like chocolate cake, the chocolate cake flavour is actually quite amazing because you get the obvious taste of chocolate but you also get a surprising fruity flavour that tastes very similar to the jam that you find in between the layers of most cakes.

Birthday Cake M and M’s really surprised me, I expected that they would have hardly any cake flavour at all and that they would be nothing but a cheap product that M and M’s put together to make a quick buck, but too my surprise there was a large quantity in the single packet I bought and they legitimately taste like chocolate cake.

Birthday Cake M and M’s are great and I really wish that they were sold in the UK 10/10

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Bites Review

choc_chip_3.1oz

When I first saw these I was amazed at how cheap they were the person I bought these from asked for only 3 dollars which is the equivalent of about 2 pounds.

I am a big fan of Cookie Dough so I could not resist picking some of these up.

Nutrition Facts

DSC_0065

One box of Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Bites contains 2 servings of candy.

Each serving contains

200 Calories

10g of Fat

7g of Saturated Fat

0g of Trans Fat

5mg of Cholesterol

65mg of Sodium

27g of Carbohydrates

0g of Dietary Fibre

20g of Sugar

and 1g of Protein

It does not matter how much you love cookie dough, I’m sure everyone will agree that it is not most nutritional thing you can eat so eating these in small doses is highly recommended.

The company that makes Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Bites has pasted that the product does not contain egg all over the box, I guess this just to show that this particular candy is safe for vegans too eat as in the list of ingredients they do say that they use milk powder instead of milk from an animal.

DSC_0066

The product its self is an assortment of cookie dough balls covered in milk chocolate they come on various sizes and shapes which is an aspect that I like because it does give me a bit more faith in the product because it makes it seem that it was not just simply made by machines in a factory.

DSC_0067

The milk chocolate is quite flavourless, it does have a very slight chocolate taste to it but in general it honestly just tastes like plastic.

DSC_0068

The cookie dough tastes pretty good but again it does not have much flavour too it, although I will admit that the flavour is much stronger and of better quality compared to the chocolate. The cookie dough has a mixture of salty and sweet flavours and the texture of the cookie dough is quite dry.

My biggest issue with the product is that it’s called Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Bites and as much as there was cookie dough in bite size pieces I failed to find any chocolate chips, I suppose you could argue that the chocolate covering the cookie dough is the chocolate chip but if that is the case surely the product should be named Milk Chocolate Covered Cookie Dough Bites.

This product was really disappointing it lacked in both chocolate chips and flavour and even though they are quite cheap to purchase I recommend staying away from these. 3/10

White Reese’s Review

hershey-s-reese-s-white-peanut-butter-cups-2-s-42g-4653-p

I am a big fan of the original Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, I buy them a lot and they are one of my top five favourite chocolate bars of all time. I was recently ordering some candy and beverages from the US and I noticed the White Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups were being sold and I knew I had to order some.

DSC_0054

This product used to be called Reese’s White Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups but these days they are just called White Reese’s because THEY NO LONGER USE REAL WHITE CHOCOLATE!!!

This really annoys me because Reese’s is a really popular and wealthy chocolate company and the fact that they don’t use real white chocolate is not just lazy its a bit of a slap to the face of their fans.

On the bright side they use real cocoa butter which gives it a buttery and creamy texture.

DSC_0055

DSC_0056

The white chocolate part of the candy is surprisingly really nice, I was surprised by this considering that they only used white chocolate flavouring, it has a very rich taste that is smooth to the mouth, its really good and if they didn’t clearly state that it isn’t real white chocolate I probably would not have noticed.

DSC_0057

As soon as I opened the packet the scent of the peanut butter filled the room, the scent is very strong but it smells really good, the taste of the peanut butter is just as strong it has a good combination of salty and sweet flavours which just melt in your mouth and the peanut butter is very smooth, the biggest problem I have with this candy is that the taste of the peanut butter is so strong that it over powers the taste of the white chocolate and when you eat it you can hardly taste the white chocolate at all.

White Reese’s is not one of the best chocolate bars I have ever eaten, but it was not terrible it just had a few issues especially the over powering flavour of the peanut butter, if your a big fan of the taste of white chocolate then give these a shot otherwise I suggest just sticking to the Original Milk Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups 6/10

The mysteries of easter cracked wide open (sort of)

Easter the nations excuse to eat loads and loads of junk food and a holiday which celebrates Jesus Christ resurrecting from the dead (if you believe in that stuff). Easter may just be another holiday but a lot of it dosent really make sense as people often wonder why we have the easter bunny and why we celebrate easter by eating chocolate eggs. If you are one of these people then wonder no more as I have looked into these mysteries and I believe I have discovered answers which may put our minds at rest.

image

Question 1

Why is easter sometimes celebrated on different dates of the year?

Easter is celebrated on different dates between the 21st of March and the 25th of April depending on when there is a full moon in spring. I didn’t even know that easter was celebrated on different dates each year but if this is true It make me wonder what happens if there isnt a full moon one year do we just not celebrate easter?

Question 2

Why chocolate eggs?

Over the weeks of easter it is considered tradition to eat hollow eggs made of chocolate but back when easter first became a christian holiday (originally a pagan celebration) it was concidered wrong to eat eggs during the week before easter so any eggs laid where saved and decorated for children as gifts for easter. The tradition was carried on by Victorians who gave children carboared eggs which were filled with easter gifts.
image

Chocolate eggs originated in the 19th century in Germany and France problem was that the chocolate eggs were hard and had a bitter taste to them, as time passed  chocolate making techniques improved and hollow chocolate eggs were developed they quickly became popular and the tradition of giving chocolate eggs on easter has stuck ever since.
image

Question 3

Why do we have the easter bunny?

Originally we didn’t have a mascot for easter but in the 19th century a legend of a character who delivers the eggs was told to children. The character was soon revealed to be a bunny rabbit this is because bunnies have lots of babies at once (kittens) this symbolizes life. So the easter bunny delivers eggs as a symbol of new life which links back to the ressurection of christ on Easter Sunday. Apparently not all countries have an easter bunny because Switzerland has an easter cuckoo and Germany has an easter fox.

I hope you enjoyed this easter related blog, have a happy easter

On saturday I will be reviewing an easter movie I won’t say what it is but here is a clue
