New Pokemon Snap (2021) Review

New Pokemon Snap is the highly anticipated and unexpected sequel to 1999’s Pokemon Snap.

It was developed by Bandai-Namco and was published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch family of systems. In a similar manner to the original this game is an on-rails photography puzzle game where the main goal is to capture photographs on Pokémon in their natural environments with bonus points awarded for special moments such as rare encounters or reactions.

In the game you play as yourself, you pick an avatar and are a Pokemon photographer, I liked this more than the game just giving you a pre designed and named character like they did previously.

This time you are guided by Professor Mirror of the Lental Region and are tasked with photographing Pokemon but now your main goal is to capture images of illumina Pokemon, these are extremely rare Pokemon that are only known from legend and have never been seen or photographed before.

I think this games best feature is its visuals, it is absolutely gorgeous and feels so real because of how naturally the Pokemon AI move and interreact with the environments, this was handled much better than the first game and I really appreciate that because this game is very relaxing and a chill out experience to hop on to when taking breaks during more stress enduring games.

There are way more islands to explore in this game and each one has a day and a night cycle. this is awesome because it means you can get access to Nocturnal Pokemon whish was not possible in the original.

I also really like that you can be awarded stickers and filters to help create unique and funny pictures which you can share with your friends using the online services of the game.

Throughout the game you will unlock new items you can use to interact with Pokemon and the environment, some of these have been carried over from the original game but the majority are new.

All together we have

Fluff Fruit – These can be thrown at Pokemon or used to entice certain Poke creatures to draw closer to your camera.

Illumina Orbs – These can be used to help interact with specific environmental items and to help some Pokemon perform rare actions.

Melody Player – Very similar to Illumina Orbs, the Melody Player can be used to encourage Pokemon to perform calming actions such as sleeping, Dancing or showing genuine happiness.

Neo One Turbo – This is a boost for your vehicle allowing you to speed through courses, great for getting specific shots near the end of courses.

The Soundtrack is not great in my opinion, the original game had a very simple soundtrack that worked well for the game and each section had a theme that seemed to fit in well with its environment, I feel the same here but it doesn’t quite hit the mark for me, I ironically I feel this one is a little too simple, it doesn’t quite have that Nintendo charm and none of these tracks are that memorable, its not bad by any means It’s just not for me.

New Pokemon Snap is a game that I was very excited to play when it got announced, I had not long beat the original game and I did that over a weekend, that first game is very charming, its addictive and full of great puzzles. I really enjoyed this version as well, it looks a lot better and having a compelling story, voice acting and realism adds a whole new experience to the series that works very well.

However I dont like this game quite as much as the first, dont get me wrong I think this is a great new version of Pokemon Snap but it feels different to that first game, I couldn’t bring my self to keep playing this, some times it felt like a chore and other times I just wanted to play something else, I think this game works great in 45 minutes bursts with other games being played in between.

I believe my opinion is purely just a personal thing because the game is very good, it has a lot going for it and if you want a relaxing experience then this just may be the game for you, but personally I will just boot up the N64 again myself.

With all my opinions put aside New Pokemon Snap gets a very good score of 8.8/10

Pokemon Snap (1999) Review

With New Pokemon Snap releasing in less than 30 days I figured this was the right time for me look at back at the original game which inspired it.

Pokemon Snap was developed by Hal Laboratories and was originally going to be a Jack and the Beanstalk videogame which focused on photographing plants and animals, the developers really struggled to convince Nintendo of this idea for the N64 Disk Drive and it was instead requested by the late Satoru Iwata that due to the success of Pokemon Red and Blue all of the animals were to be changed to Pokemon and the environments and story adjusted to make the world feel natural and realistic to contain Pokemon monsters. This genius idea for a change was much more than just relying on the success of another franchise but a way of expanding the Pokemon universe to express it self in a non violent and natural way with some puzzle elements thrown into the mix and I think everyone will agree that this is exactly what Pokemon Snap brought to the table.

In the game you play as a talented young photographer named Todd Snap, Todd begins the game chasing the rare Pokemon Mew trying to be the first person to ever get a clear photograph of it, unfortunately the creature escapes into the clouds and Todd feels defeated and in need to regain his confidence and refine his skills in Photography. He becomes an apprentice for Professor Oak who asks Todd to photograph Pokemon and landmarks which represent them.

There are 63 Pokemon’s you can can discover and Photograph in the game, the majority of these are quite easy to find but getting the best possible photo is the real challenge of the game, some times you may need to interact with a Pokémon to make it emotionally react in order to get a great photograph, this can be achieved using the in game items.

There are three items in the game and later on you can move through the courses faster as well.

The apples can be used to attract a Pokemon to a specific spot, a very popular thing you can do is in the beach level use the apples to encourage Pikachu to climb a surfboard in order to get the amazing Surfing Pikachu shot.

You can also use the apples to knock over items and Pokemon while this may seem a little cruel, and in reality it is a little bit but by knocking Pokemon or eggs into certain elements you can evolve them, for example knocking a Charmeleon into the volcano is the only way to get a Charizard shot.

Some of the evolutions are a lot more difficult and require more puzzle solving, in the valley stage you need to hit a jumping Magicarp with a number of apples in order to hit it so hard that it fly’s to other end of the trail. Here it will land on some rocky terrain, hit it with another apple to knock it into the water bouncing it inside of a waterfall, this will evolve the Magicarp and is the only way to get a shot of Gyrados.

The pester balls can be used to make Pokémon dizzy but more importantly it can bring camouflaged Pokémon out of hiding, you need to do this in order get a shot of Porygon.

The Final Item is the Pokemon Flute this can be used to encourage Pokemon to show off secret poses, these photographs will give players extra points, it is also the only way to wake up Vileplume in the River level.

The items are also needed so that you can interact with secrets in the environment to open up new paths and levels.

I was a little disappointed with how short the game was and its difficulty, while I agree its creativity is outstanding and overall the game is tons of fun, this was my first playthrough and I managed to do everything in under six hours, the main Pokemon were a little challenging to find especially the evolutions but the Pokemon signs I found straight away when I began seeking them out, this was fine but I think it would have been better to make them a little more difficult to discover considering that finding all six of them gives you access to Mew and the games credits.

I thought that while fairly simple the music actually suits this game very well, this is not an epic role playing adventure game but is in fact a relaxing and fun experience for the whole family, the music gets you pumped to go and discover secrets and genuinely has a really good feel to it, I never grew up with this game so I don’t have nostalgia for it, but my friends that do have all said that they think opening theme is an easily recognisable and iconic video game composition and I will admit that if I heard it in the future I think I could easily match it with this game, it is unique and fits the tone of the game perfectly.

I have very few complaints with this game, I think it could been a little longer with some more levels, this came out in gen 1 but only used 63 of the then 151 Pokemon and lets be honest they could have put all of the Pokemon in this game.

I think the Pokemon signs should have been really hard to discover, there was no internet back then so it could have made easy playground brags especially since you could print the photographs off in certain stores.

If I made the game myself I would have made no mention of Mew at all and instead had the final level unlock only to players who got every photograph in the game, beat all of the high scores and found all of the Pokemon signs, I think leaving Mew a secret would have been a fantastic completionist bonus for players.

I realise these complaints are more on the lines of what I would do differently so please don’t let what I have said put you off this fantastic experience, Pokemon Snap as a concept is great and the final product is a wonderful game which anyone can get into, graphically while these days outdated back then this is some of the best visuals on the N64, the music is perfect for the game and its tone, it controls well, has a good story which does not overshadow the gameplay and while I would have liked it to be just a little bit longer I cannot wait to replay this and I am even more excited to see what directions the new game takes but until then I give Pokemon Snap a very high score of 9.6/10

I actually played the entire game live on my twitch account, I am using this account to share my experiences with these games in real time before reviewing them and I would appreciate some support over there if you would like to come hangout and play some games with me !

General Mills: Lucky Charms Review

IMG_20190628_193947_3

Lucky Charms is a breakfast cereal from company General Mills, it has been popular in kitchens at breakfast time since 1964. The cereal generally consists of oat pieces and marshmallows, my box came with Pokemon cards which is really cool because I couldn’t tell you the last time a box of cereal I have bought has come with something other than cereal.

The commercials are great for Lucky Charms, they consist of the leprechaun Lucky trying to keep children away from his cereal but he almost always gets caught in the end and the children get the cereal, some of the commercials are really memorable and they have helped to make the cereal so popular.

IMG_20190628_194220_2

The back of the box has various Pokemon games and information regarding the Pokemon card promotion.

One serving of the cereal is 3/4 of a cup which is approximately 96 grams in UK measurement.

One serving of Lucky Charms has

110 calories

1 gram of fat

170 milligrams of sodium

55 milligrams of potassium

22 grams of carbohydrates

2 grams of protein

IMG_20190628_195039_7

The cereal has a very faint sweet smell to it when you open the box but nothing that stands out

IMG_20190628_195334_1

The cereal tastes ok dry, the marshmallows do not have a lot of flavour dry but the oats have a very nice flavour similar to cheerios.

IMG_20190628_195614_0

The cereal smells sweeter when milk is added but its not an over-empowering smell.

The cereal is nice with milk it reminds of cheerios mixed with sugar and apart from that nothing about it is really that interesting, the marshmallows are definitely what will bring in the kids but for me Lucky Charms are not the greatest cereal when it comes to taste, I do also have a box of the chocolate variety which I am going to review so hopefully that version will bring more flavour to the table.

As a bonus these are the Pokemon cards I got in the box

Halloween Treats : How to make Adorable and Spooky Owl Cupcakes

Get your aprons on, your mixing spoons at the ready and prepare to crack some eggs because Halloween has just gotten more delicious.

Snapshot_20151019_9

With Halloween only getting closer and closer, it wont be long until all of us are rotting our teeth with delicious candies, mouth watering chocolates and those apples that people cover in toffee in the hopes that children wont realize that they have actually been tricked into eating fruit.

I decided that instead of buying candy in the usual retail stores I would instead attempt to make some Halloween themed cakes, after much debate about what creatures to base my cakes on I eventually chose owls due to them not having as much love as cats and spiders during the holiday.

What you will need to make these awesome treats

Golden Caster Sugar

Butter

Self Raising Flour

Cocoa Powder

6 Medium Eggs

Malteasers

Orange Frosting

Milk chocolate Buttons

White Chocolate Buttons

First thing you want to do is to preheat your oven to 190 degrees, next line your cake tin full of cake cases

why fill it?

Nearly 30 cakes is why

Snapshot_20151019_10

Soften 280g of either salted or unsalted butter (I used Salted) and add it to your mixing bowl

Add 200g of self raising flour to your mixing bowl

Add 280g of golden caster sugar to your mixing bowl

Add 1 table spoon of cocoa powder to your mixing bowl

and finally crack all six medium eggs into your mixing bowl

Stir the mixture until it has become fairly smooth

Now add the mixture to your cake cases almost filling them but leaving space for them to rise

Place the cakes in the oven for 25 minutes

Once they are cooked remove them from the oven and allow them to cool, once they have cooled you can now do the messy part of decorating them.

Cover the top of each cake in the orange frosting

add a malteaser beak to each cake (I don’t recommend trying to cut them to make a beak shape as I tried this and it did not work in my favor at all)

Add two milk chocolate buttons to each cake to make the owls big eyes

Cut two white chocolate buttons in half and make the owls claws (You may run out of white chocolate buttons and if you do it doesn’t hurt to use the milk chocolate buttons for feet, I had to near the end of decorating)

Finally eat them XD

Thank you for reading this blog

I hope my some what useful cake recipe proves to be a lot of fun for anyone who wants to give these a try, if you do make these you don’t have to follow my decoration technique so by all means get creative and use your imaginations.

You can email me pictures of your halloween cakes at ragglefragglereviews@gmail.com

Happy Halloween

Top 5 DS Games I want on Wii U E-Shop

So a few weeks ago Nintendo released a press conference where they talked about new content in upcoming games as well as announcing some release dates for big Nintendo titles, one of my favourite announcements from the conference was that you can now purchase N64 and NDS games on the E-shop for the Wii U, I’m not too interested in the N64 virtual console as I do prefer to get most of my N64 as physical copies but the realisation that I can now play NDS games on my TV literally made me squeal like a little girl who got given a kitten covered in candy floss for Christmas and I just want to hug Nintendo into eternity right now, at the moment there is only two DS games available on the E-shop Mario Kart DS and Wario Ware touched and I was a little disappointed with this considering that the USA got Yoshi’s Island DS while Europe has to wait until May.

I may have been a little disappointed but I am still super hyped for what DS games Nintendo will bring to the E-shop and in celebration of the announcement here are my top 5 DS games I want to see on Wii U E-Shop.

DS-BIRTHDAYcopy

5. New Super Mario Bros

new super mario bros

As some of you may know New Super Mario Bros is one of my favourite Mario games of all time, it is essentially a remake of the original Super Mario Bros but with a few changes the most obvious change is the more modern graphics, the game also has a variety of music tracks, new power ups and a well detailed over world similar to Super Mario Bros 3, the reason this is so low on the list is because it honestly isn’t that exciting compared to my other choices but needless to say I think this game would look awesome on the Virtual Console.

4. The Professor Layton Series

professor layton games

The professor Layton games are these surprisingly in depth puzzles games made by Level 5 Studios, the games follow the adventures of Professor Layton and his side kick Luke Triton, each game has our two protagonists working together to solve the hidden mysteries of different towns and villages, you slowly solve these mysteries by finishing many puzzles and answering many riddles through out the games, the Professor Layton series are great games to play by yourself on a handheld but I think it would be interesting to play them on the TV because with a bigger screen you and your friends can try to solve to puzzles together which seems like it would be a lot of fun also the games have fully animated cut scenes which I’m sure would be a real treat to watch on a larger screen.

3. The Legend of Zelda Phantom Hourglass/Spirit Tracks

Phantom Hourglass

Spirit Tracks

A few weeks ago I finally finished playing through Wind Waker and I had a lot of fun with it but I didn’t enjoy it as much I have enjoyed other games in the series which is why its two sequels are only at the number three spot on this list, these two Zelda games are very unique as they are controlled completely with the touch screen which is a concept I find very interesting as I believe it will add more of a challenge compared to how easy Wind Waker was, this is also the main reason why I want to play the two DS games as I want to see how the challenge differs as well to see what happens next in Wind Waker’s story.

2. Mario and Luigi Partners in Time/Bowser’s Inside Story

partners in time

bowsers inside story

I recently downloaded Mario and Luigi Super Star Saga for the GBA on the E-Shop and boy am I glad I did, the Mario and Luigi games are these surprisingly hilarious and well written RPG’s from Nintendo, the plots are always silly and the games are full of interesting characters and clever jokes, Super Star Saga is slowly becoming one of my favourite RPG’s of all time as it reminds me a lot of Super Mario RPG for the SNES, these games are charming, very challenging but fair and full of that Nintendo flavour so I really hope that Nintendo put these games on the E-Shop as I cant wait to play them all.

1.Any of the DS Pokemon Games

pokemon ds games

Seriously Nintendo this needs to happen because not only would it be awesome it would also be extremely useful, I know many people who like to play the Pokemon Game Boy games using their super game boy’s and the Game Boy Advance games using the Game cube GBA adapter, the Pokemon series is a lot of fun to play on the move but personally I always have more fun playing them on the TV and I’m sure a lot of other people do too.

three reasons why Pokemon on the E-Shop will be useful

1. TV’s don’t have a battery life so you can play Pokemon all day without having to charge the console every four hours, the pokemon games are really long and require many hours of grinding so his will help.

2. Your friends dont need to climb all over you to watch you play the game, Pokemon games can get pretty intense and if like me you have friends who get overly excited when you find a shiny you will most likely have 10 different people crowding around your DS at the same time and with a TV this is not such a huge a deal as all of your friends can watch no matter where they sit on the couch.

3. Save States, there is no denying that the Pokemon games are tough and require a lot of patience the only way to retry a battle or a puzzle if you mess up is to either lose or reset the game which is extremely annoying , playing a Pokemon game on the Virtual console will allow save states which are going to be very useful as it make the whole experience less stressful and the best part is that you don’t have to use them so any hardcore Pokemon players wont be disappointed

The only problem I can see people complaining about is the lack or online battles and trading as it seems that this feature will be unavailable due to the original Nintendo Wifi Connection being shut down, but I have a feeling that Nintendo might be able to use their magic to some how make the online capabilities work.

Thanks for reading my top 5 DS games I want on Wii U E-Shop I realise that most of these are Nintendo titles but I cant really help that I’m a bit of a Nintendo addict, although my number 6 spot would go to the Drawn to Life games which I also hope get ported to E-Shop soon, what DS games would you like to see on the E-Shop?

thanks for reading this blog

If you respect my opinion, I will respect yours

Lets take a look at Pokemon 3D

Pokemon_3D

I think every Pokemon fan has wondered what the Pokemon games would look like if you played them with a first person perspective, instead of playing them with the common birds eye view that is presented in the majority of the games.

If you happen to be one of these fans, then you will be pleased to know that a 3D Pokemon game now exists and it is simply titled Pokemon 3D.

Pokemon 3D is a recreation of Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver which were released on the Gameboy Colour in 1999.

pokemon-gold-and-silver_989

But even though Pokemon 3D has been created around these games, it is a very different experience as it has new characters, mostly different dialogue and it even has its own twists and changes to the original games plot, not to mention that the entire game has had a massive graphical upgrade compared to the original game that could only run in 8 bits.

Pokemon Gold/Silver Original

scrn_pokemonSilver-01-300x259

Pokemon 3D

Pokemon 3D 16 bit

This is a Pokemon game and so the objective is very similar to original series, you are a Pokemon trainer and it is your mission to catch and train as many Pokemon as you can, you will then need to retrieve the 8 gym badges before making your way to the Pokemon championships  to take on the elite 4 and too finally defeat the Pokemon Champion of the world.

pokemon gym

The game play is also very similar to an actual Pokemon game and the only major difference this time around is that you are using a keyboard and mouse. I found the controls to be a little awkward but I think that’s just because I am so use to playing Pokemon on an actual game boy, so it was little difficult for my mind to adjust to these new controls.

Personally I was getting quite a bit of lag when I was walking from place to place, the reason for this is because the game requires a lot of power from your CPU, I have a fairly powerful PC and I can run my fair share of games that require high performance so I believe that this issue is just a problem with the game currently and its an aspect that I hope the developers fix.

The battle system is really cool, it reminds me of the new latest Pokemon battle systems from X/Y and Alpha/Omega.  The Pokemon themselves are in 3D and you get to see them fight. At the moment you are not able to see the Pokemon perform the attacks but I am sure that this feature will appear in a later update.

Battle

You will also be pleased to know that all of the original music and audio from Pokemon Gold and Silver is in the game, the audio is loud, crisp and full of nostalgia and having the original audio is a really nice feature especially for people who grew up playing these games.

You can even have a Pokemon adventure online with other players, but I really struggled to connect to the server but after a while I managed to connect and it was pretty sweet, I cant wait to play this game online with my friends so we can go on Pokemon adventures together.

server

Pros

  • Fantastic Graphics and Imagery
  • Music and Audio from the Original Game
  • Plays and feels like a real Pokemon Game

Cons

  • The controls are a little complicated
  • Experienced quite a bit of Lag
  • You will need a powerful CPU
  • Sometimes you may struggle to connect to the online server

Pokemon 3D is still in development and the developers are working on improving the game every single day, If your a Pokemon fan I highly recommend that you check this game out.

What are pokemon?

I love pokemon and I think the concept of the games is genius having  players capture and trade monsters with other players all over the world, but have you ever tried to figure out just what the hell pokemon actually are because I am pretty sure they are not the creatures everyone foresees them to be.

image

I don’t recall this ever being explained in the countless animes that are still being made to this day and I’m sure fans have wrote many different theories of what pokemon are on the internet. Personally I dont have any theories of my own but have some ideas about what pokemon could possibly be.

1. Packets of data

Before pokemon hit the TV screens there was another anime which was just as popular until pokemon became the greatest thing ever and that show was called digimon.  Digimon which is short for digital monsters are packets of data which take the form of monsters which are used for both battling and to help people in general life. The size of a digimon has the same logic as a computer file size for example a small digimon would be a certain amount of mega bites, a larger digimon would be certain amount of giga bites etc. The reason I bring up this theory is because have you noticed that when the pokemon are sent out to battle or are returned to their balls they kinda get sucked in one pixel at a time and this could be because the pokemon are actually data packets and lets not forget that when they go to the pokemon center they are healed while they are inside their balls as if they are getting charged up like an electrical device.

2. Pokemon are a science experiment gone wrong

The best way I can explain this is by saying imagine that a scientist created a machine which could clone living creatures but they didnt want to test the machine on a human so they tested it on a mouse, during the cloning procedure something went wrong with the machiene and an electrical current was sent through the machine and because of this the end result was a mouse combined with electricity (Pikachu). This one is a little stretched but it could be something like this which could explain  why pokemon are the way they are, that scientist could have then gone on to combine other animals with other elements creating the other pokemon.

3. Pokemon is based in another dimension

The idea of various animals being crossed with the different elements may seem like some kids imagination or an LSD trip to our generation, but wouldnt the idea of pokemon make so much more sense if the show was based in completely different dimenson to one we live in, for all we know pokemon might be based in another dimension and we just don’t know it. The reason this would make sense is because we don’t know what other dimension are like for all we know there could be an entire dimenion that consists of elephants living how we do today.

I don’t know if what pokemon actually are has ever been explained but if it hasnt and your still trying to figure it out all I have to say is this, its a Japanese anime what do you expect

Snow Sculptures of videogames

With Christmas so close now it only seems appropriate to do some Christmas related blogs. Christmas is quite an amazing day it is the birth date of Christ if you believe in that stuff and it is also a great time to get together with family, Open presents and maybe build a snowman or two. Everyone has built a snowman at least once in their lives but have you ever built a snowman of some of your favorite videogame characters because I sure haven’t. To start off the Christmas blogs and simply because I’m a nerd I have decided to choose 5 video game series and find my favorite snow sculpture I can find (all thanks to Google Images) for each of my chosen videogame series. The series I have chosen are Super Mario, The legend of Zelda, Pokémon, Kirby and Sonic the Hedgehog.

Yoshi

ImageThis wonderful Yoshi sculpture was actually part of an entire snow Mushroom Kingdom but I wasn’t able to show the others because they can only be viewed on flikr due to copyright which is fair enough. The rest of the sculptures include a Mario, Toad and a Koopa shell. Since I would have loved to have uploaded all if the images in the blog I will include a link which you will find underneath this part of the blog. I did find that my favourite sculpture was the Yoshi because the detail is almost perfect and you can see that it took the creator a long time to make the Yoshi alone and as well as creating the other sculptures.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/rgosling/4339007247/

The Triforce

ImageThese men are geniuses don’t make a snow sculpture of Link or Zelda no make a snow sculpture of the most important thing in the entire Legend of Zelda universe the Triforce. I really like this snow sculpture you can see that a lot of effort went into it and from the picture I gather they only just finished and its night time now that’s some nerd dedication. There is truly nothing off putting about this sculpture apart from what appears to be a dog turd underneath it but that doesn’t count.

Rayquaza

ImageOut of all the Pokémon snow sculptures I could find this one had to make the list because it is the most bad ass and best looking one I could see. This snow sculpture is of Rayquaza one a legendary Pokémon from Pokémon emerald.

Kirby

 Image

Ok so maybe this one is not as impressive as the other snow sculptures so far but it is the best Kirby snow sculpture I could find and it’s not that bad they got the body shape and the face right plus they even coloured the eyes and mouth in black to help give it more of a Kirby look and before you say Kirby is meant to be pink Kirby, Kirby was originally white and snow is also white so yeah a white Kirby but it’s still awesome.

Sonic the hedgehog

ImageSonic the hedgehog was the first video I ever played so only feels right for a snow sonic to be in this blog. I really like this sculpture because even without much of the detail the sculpture still looks really awesome, although it is worrying me that the snow is yellow let’s just hope that it is caused by street lights and not the other cause of yellow snow.

I hope you enjoyed this blog

Nintendo PETA Style

Nintendo PETA Style

I love Nintendo they are by far my favourite game developers of all time, if it wasn’t for Nintendo we wouldn’t have Star Fox, Mario, Donkey Kong, Pokémon, F-Zero, the legend of Zelda or any of the other game series that Nintendo has created. Nintendo is amazing they really know how to make great games and at the same time making the games blood free and family friendly.

There is one particular cause which really dislikes Nintendo and the messages they apparently tell children who play their games. I am of course talking about PETA (People for the ethical treatment of animal). PETA is a cause which fights for animal rights and they try to reduce the amount of animal abuse in the UK, they also try to spread their message to other continents such as the USA. It’s not just Animal abuse either PETA is also against using animals as food, wearing their fur, for entertainment purposes or any other reason you could possibly think of.

I am on PETA’s side when it comes to not abusing animals but one thing PETA has recently started is saying that Nintendo games encourages people to be violent towards animals, so far I have found three Nintendo games that they say are spreading the message that animal abuse is good this is obviously complete and utter rubbish but PETA must really believe this is true because they have actually made their own versions of the games, since PETA made the effort to do this I’m going to make the effort of actually comparing these games to the originals so let’s jump right in and try to have some fun.

Cooking Mama

If you’re wondering what cooking mama is the first clue is in the title I’m not so sure about the mama part but the idea of the game is to cook many different types of food. The problem is that PETA is against using animals for food and in cooking mama you cook a lot of meat of course PETA doesn’t agree with this so they made their own version of cooking mama which is called Cooking Mama: Mama Kills Animals.

Cooking Mama: Mama Kills Animals just from the title you can tell PETA is over exaggerating. I was correct PETA really are over exaggerating with this one the idea is that you’re Cooking Mama and you need to prepare a thanks giving dinner, that may not sound too bad but when you start to prepare the turkey it’s pretty ridiculous because of all the blood and guts, even the eggs bleed in this game that’s how much PETA have over exaggerated but if you keep playing you unlock a new mode which gives you the opportunity to give mama a change of heart and a love for animals or you could just go on your DS and play cooking mama.

Super Mario

If you’ve played Super Mario Bros 3 or the more recent Super Mario 3D land you will know all about a power up Mario can get called a tanookie suit, now I had no idea that the tanookie suit is the fur of a real animal called a tanookie dog. According to PETA the tanookie dog is an endangered animal and poachers skin them alive so they can sell their fur as it is quite valuable and sells for a high price. Since Super Mario wears a tanookie suit PETA gets the idea that Mario is one of these poachers, obviously PETA has never played any Mario games because if they did they would know that Mario gets his tanookie suit from eating a leaf but PETA are idiots so they released yet another game called Mario Kills Tanookie.

I would tell you what this game is about but PETA has already doe that for us this is what PETA says Mario kills Tanookie is about

When on a mission to rescue the princess, Mario has been known to use any means necessary to defeat his enemy—even wearing the skin of a raccoon dog to give him special powers.

Tanooki may be just a “suit” in Mario games, but in real life, tanooki are raccoon dogs who are skinned alive for their fur. By wearing Tanooki, Mario is sending the message that it’s OK to wear fur. Play Super Tanooki Skin 2D and help Tanooki reclaim his fur!

You play as a naked tanookie dog who is chasing Mario to get his fur back if you catch the tanookie dog is happy there is no special ending or anything.

P.S there is one more Mario related game by PETA called Super Chick Sisters but I didn’t feel the need to mention it in this blog because Mario Kills Tanookie is more Mario related since it has Mario in it. Super Chick Sisters actually isn’t that bad of a game and you play it by going to this link

Pokémon

I left the most recent and defiantly the stupidest till last according to PETA Pokémon games encourage cruelty toward Animals because they are stuffed into the poke balls and then they are sent out to fight which apparently encourages animal fighting. PETA obviously played Pokémon Black and White because they felt the need to release a game about the Pokémon’s escaping from their trainers and adventuring towards their freedom this so called game of PETA’s is titled Pokémon Black and Blue.

I got to admit this game is pretty funny but I don’t think it’s meant to be which just makes it funnier

I hope you enjoyed today’s blog

You know PETA haven’t made a Zelda game yet and in Zelda you can kill chickens it probably won’t be long till PETA release a game where we play as a chicken and have to violently murder Link but until then good night, sleep tight and try to hold on to that little part of your childhoods which hasn’t been ruined by PETA.
