Post: Fruity Pebbles Review

IMG_20190531_231406_4

Fruity Pebbles as well as its sister cereal Cocoa Pebbles are cereal brands based on the animated sitcom the Flintstones, they were both released in 1971 and have been popular in American homes ever since.

The commercials for pebbles are really great, they are very entertaining and will make you want to try the cereal, they have changed a lot over the years but I like the commercials where Barney is trying to steal the cereal from Fred the best.

Today we will looking at the fruity pebbles version of the cereal.

IMG_20190531_231435_7

The box comes with some games on the back which will keep children entertained for a short while.

One serving of the cereal is half a cup which in uk measurements is 135 grams.

One serving of fruity pebbles has

110 calories

1 gram of saturated fat

140 milligrams of sodium

20 milligrams of potassium

9 grams of sugar

14 grams of other carbohydrates

and 1 gram of protein.

IMG_20190531_233500_2

Upon opening the box you can smell a very strong artificial fruit scent that fills your nostrils.

IMG_20190531_233912_2

I tried all of the different colours dry and they all taste the same, it a very artificial flavour but it is nice.

IMG_20190531_234219_6

The cereal is a lot nicer with milk but it is very sweet, I cant see me eating this on a daily basis but as an occasional treat it would make a nice dessert.

The cereal goes soggy really fast which is a shame for me because I enjoy crunchy cereal but this didn’t affect the taste of the cereal at all.

Fruity Pebbles is a cereal that is not available in the United Kingdom so I had to get this imported, it is very enjoyable but as I have already mentioned it is incredibly sweet so keep this in mind before you order a box online.

Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows (2015) Review

I would recommend reading my review of Shovel Knight:Shovel of Hope before reading this review.

https://ragglefragglereviews.com/2015/11/15/shovel-knight-2014-review/

poster

Shovel Knight Plague of Shadows was the first alternative campaign that was added to Shovel Knight. It was released on September 1st 2015.

maxresdefault

The game stars Plague Knight who wants to collect the essences of the other knights in the game, once he has the essences Plague Knight  hopes to create the ultimate potion which can grant him anything he desires.

recovery

Plague-Knight-12The game mostly follows the same premise of the original Shovel Knight but it does have its differences. The major difference is the way that you traverse the various levels and defeat the bosses, Plague Knight cannot jump as high as Shovel Knight but he can double jump and use bombs to propel himself into the air.

250760_screenshots_2015-09-28_00001

A new arsenal of weapons comes with the game, Plague Knight is able to use bombs powders and fuses to defeat his enemies.

New relics are also available to Plague Knight, all of these have various uses such as absorbing health from enemies, creating a cloud of invincibility and creating floating platforms as well as many other useful relics.

Small green coins named Cypher Coins can be collected through out the game, these coins can be used to update the weapon upgrades you can buy in the shop and if you collect all of them you can unlock an upgraded version of the troupple chalice.

ShovelKnightPlague_4_1200x500

The game is a lot of fun although its hard not to find it a little bit repetitive, minus a couple of levels and a few changes this is the same game as shovel of hope, it has the same over world map, the same levels and the same boss fights the only major difference is the character you play as and how you get through the game.

A few new tracks were added to the soundtrack for Plague of Shadows and they are fantastic, I think I actually prefer this music to the music of Shovel of Hope.

And that is about all there is to say about Plague of Shadows its a new game based on the stages and the map of Shovel of Hope, it makes the game much more challenging with its new game play style and even though it does feel a little repetitive its still a really fun time and with a couple of new original music tracks Plague of Shadows is well worthy of a 9.7/10.

I hope you enjoyed this review of Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows

Detective Pikachu (2019) Movie Review

gsdfsdfe

Last night I managed catch a viewing of the Detective Pikachu movie in my local movie theate and it only seems right to talk about it. I am going to do my best to avoid spoilers but one or two small spoilers may slip through the cracks so this is your warning if you want to watch the movie.

Detective Pikachu is a mystery-fantasy film which takes place in the world of Pokemon, it was directed by Rob Letterman, Letterman co-wrote the script with Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit.

https___blogs-images.forbes.com_scottmendelson_files_2019_02_MV5BMjMzMDAwNjA1N15BMl5BanBnXkFtZTgwMjczNzUyNzM@._V1_SX1777_CR001777739_AL_

Tim Goodman (Justice Smith) is a young man who has given up on his dreams of becoming a Pokemon trainer, this is due to the unfortunate passing of his mother and also because his father had been neglectful towards him through out most of his life.

aneesh-arts-main-render-image-01-00000-a48a

After his father dies in a mysterious car accident Tim travels to Rhyme city in order to collect his fathers assets and while at his fathers apartment Tim meets a Pikachu that he can fully understand, the Pikachu is played by Ryan Reynolds. Detective Pikachu believes that Tims dad survived the crash and that a larger mystery is behind the accident, Detective Pikachu and Tim work together to try and solve the mystery of what really happened to Tims Dad, while meeting other Pokemon and discovering more pieces to the puzzle along the way.

detective-pikachu-kathryn-newton-justice-smith-2

The cast was ok in this movie although I wouldn’t say it was anything special apart from Ryan Reynolds as Pikachu, the only three major roles worth mentioning are Ryan Reynolds as Pikachu, Justice Smith as Tim and Kathryn Newton as Lucy who helps our two main actors with solving the mystery of Tims Dad.

_104304494_mediaitem104304493D4xJD2nW4AAQVIwimages

The visual effects and design of the various Pokemon is the highlight of the film. The Pokemon look absolutely fantastic, They went for a realistic approach instead of trying to make the creatures look more animated and in this case its worked out extremely well, if Pokemon were real this is how I imagine them to look and the environments I imagine they would reside.

T2cOE4MNzEOYCMfMHUw7nwaipom-1551293613337_1280w

The movie is really funny and can be enjoyed by the entire family although in my personal opinion some scenes might be a little scary for younger children, as I have already stated the realistic designs work really well but that also means that in some action scenes the realistic Pokemon can come across as a little bit too real and I feel that it could make the experience rather unpleasant for some people.

This a really good movie, it has a nice cast of Pokemon and human actors, it has some excellent CGI that can be a little scary at times but the film is very funny and filled to the brim with jokes that both adults and children can get a laugh from. You dont need to be a Pokemon fan to enjoy the film so even if you dont know what a Pokemon is I would still recommend giving it a viewing.

Lets take a look at redbubble.com (T-shirts)

This is not a paid promotion, I just want to talk about Red Bubble

4577-59f8ab71e1535f0649dd1639f6a4ca21

Red Bubble is a really interesting company, they sell clothes and various other items which feature imagery created by artists, as far as I am aware you cant buy anything from this website in a store which makes a lot of the items on here very unique.

The website is really easy to use but you should give yourself plenty of time to browse due to all of the options available. here is a short guide on purchasing shirts on Red Bubble.

home

From the home page you need to type in what you are looking for in this example we will search for Transformers.

transformers

No matter what you search for you will most likely come across hundreds of designs so make sure that you search properly before deciding on which design is best for you.

gsdfsdfe

After choosing a design you can pick the type of T-shirt you want, I find that the classic T-Shirt is the best type as its loose on the body and the sleeves.  You can also change the colour of the shirt and choose a size, there are 17 colours available for most shirts so check different colours to see what works with the design.

After you purchase your shirts, You can send comments to the artists and tell them why you like their design, you don’t have to do this but I personally like too.

I have bought four t-shirts so far from Red Bubble, three are classic type T-shirts and the other is a graphic print T-shirt.

Classic T-Shirt

Graphic T-shirt

Please excuse the camera quality, in reality the prints are more colourful than my camera has done them justice.

The general quality of the T-shirts I have bought are quite good but they are printed on cheap material, all of these shirts are quite thin and the graphic print is the only shirt that is completely comfortable to wear although the classic designs are comfortable enough that it shouldn’t be much of an issue for most people.

When your T-shirts arrive there is a strong smell, it’s not a bad smell but isn’t pleasant either, it is recommended to wash the T-shirts straight away and I also recommend doing this.

I love Red Bubble it’s my favourite place to buy shirts and even though they are not best quality they are very unique which is why I like them, they are well worth the money and they have decent delivery times. Perhaps one day we can look at some other products that Red Bubble sell but for the time being I can say that the shirts are really great.

Super Mario World (1991)Review

Super_Mario_World_Coverart

Super Mario World is a Side Scrolling Platformer for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, it was developed and published by Nintendo, It was directed by Takashi Tezuka and was produced by Shigeru Miyamoto it was released in 1990 in Japan, 1991 in the United States and 1992 in Europe.

hqdefault

After the events of Super Mario Bros 3, Mario and Luigi take a vacation on Dinosaur Land, an Island that is swarming with prehistoric creatures called Yoshi’s, during the vacation Princess Peach mysteriously disappears, they soon discover that King Bowser is behind the dissapearance and his children the Koopalings have also kidnapped some of the Yoshi’s leaving Mario and Luigi to rescue the missing dinosaurs as well as the Princess.

9956821a-ee9b-4111-a15e-7bc433793219The game plays similarly to other 2D Mario games, the player must travel across a large map that is filled with themed areas, in order to traverse the world you must complete a set number of levels or discover a secret path to get through the game faster but the secret stages are much more difficult than the regular stages in the game.

Q2jqUwThere are two aspects of the game that I really want to discuss compared to some of the smaller additions that this game brought to the series, the first is the cape item, with a cape Mario is able to hover through the air in a similar manner to Princess Peach in Super Mario Bros 2, the other ability gained through this item is that you can temporarily fly after a sprint, you can only fly for a short amount of time but during these moments you can discover a lot of really cool secrets and when Mario eventually dives back towards the ground the impact can cause some serious damage taking out a lot of enemies.

Aa2Eo6The other important new addition I want to discuss is the introduction to a Nintendo favourite character which is Yoshi, the famous video game dinosaur is able to help Mario on his quest, Mario can hop onto a Yoshi in order to take an extra hit as you wont take damage if you are attacked while on top of the dinosaur, Yoshi can also eat enemies and help Mario to gain extra height during a jump.

NufIksIt should be noted that the game introduced ghost houses to the series.

The graphics are absolutely outstanding, they are a serious upgrade from Super Mario Bros 3, the increased power from the Super Nintendo really push the game to have smooth and colourful visuals, it also has some great animations and uses scaling to help the background and foreground of the game come to life.

The soundtrack at the time was the best music we had ever heard in a Super Mario game, the soundtrack was composed by Koji Kondo and they did an awesome job, the music is so much fun to listen too and while maybe not as epic as some of the later Super Nintendo game soundtracks this one has never been forgotten, the best tune by far is the end credits music which to this day is one of my favourite video game soundtracks.

Super Mario world is an extremely beloved game, it helped to shape the 2D Mario games into what they are today, after Super Mario World they all stuck to a similar formula with most of the new additions seen here staying as well, the game looks wonderful, it has tight controls, an epic soundtrack, fun and memorable boss fights and is genuinely a wonderful experience to play through. Super Mario World is one of most important games of the franchises history, it wasn’t just another Mario game, it was and still is a masterpiece.

10/10

Sonic CD (1993) Review

220px-Sonic_the_Hedgehog_CD_North_American_cover_art

Sonic CD was published and developed by Sega for the Sega CD an extension to the Sega Genesis/Megadrive.

The game opens with a beautifully animated cut-scene and a kick ass song, I wish all sonic games had cut scenes like this because they truly are special and really get you pumped for the adventure that awaits.

On the final month of every year an alien planet named little planet appears in a place called the nether lake, Sonic journeys to the nether lake to discover that Dr Robotnik has connected little planet to a mountain in order to build a new giant fortress, he wants to do this by gaining the power of the time stones which are magical jewels that can modify the passage of time, Sonic races Robotnik to try and stop him from executing his dastardly plan.

MV5BZTNmNDc5NTYtOTQzNS00NmQyLTllZTctNzQ0MzE3YjlmNjgyXkEyXkFqcGdeQXVyNjQyNTg3MjI@._V1_img_0340

After a great and memorable cut-scene we are thrown into the game play and to be honest I don’t like it very much.

I will start by discussing what I do like about the game.

I had a lot of fun playing it, the 2.5D sections thanks to the power of the Sega CD are really cool and back in the day they pushed the sonic series to a whole new level of awesomeness which helped to evolve the series into what it is today (the good sonic games that is),  the game has a lot of multiple paths which adds a lot of reasons to replay the game in order to try and get the best ending on top of that the boss battles are absolutely fantastic they are all so much fun and have unique ways to defeat them, the re-introduction to Metal Sonic was nice and the fact that you have to beat him a race instead of a battle really pushes your platforming skills to the test and it is one of the most memorable parts of game.

screen_2_big

What I really dislike is the level design, the game developers added time travel to the game which makes sense due to the plot but you never know when hes going to travel to the future or at-least I couldn’t figure it out because it seemed that I would just travel through time randomly which was frustrating because the level changes and then sets you on a new path depending on if your in the past or the future, this means that you will fight a different boss than you may have intended and you could be heading towards the non-canonical ending of the game which a lot of players dont want.

Some of the levels were really confusing to get through due to the layout which may have been the intention but because for the most part the stage doesn’t differ much in its environment I found my self running out of time in a couple of levels which was really frustrating especially when sonic is time traveling when I am already lost and trying to figure out how to get to the goal.

scd-other-specialstageimg2

The bonus levels were really fun but once or twice I found them quite hard to traverse but I will blame this on my skills as I wasn’t very good at the bonus stage in sonic 2 either.

The soundtrack is one of the best we have ever had in a sonic game to this day, thanks to the possibilities of the Sega CD clearer sounds and music were able to be used with voice work as well allowing a really awesome soundtrack to jam out too while we are playing, I often still listen to this music on a daily basis even when I’m not playing the game.

I understand that Sonic CD has a lot of fans but I really cant get past my frustrations with it, It has outstanding visuals throughout the entire campaign with some really memorable changes in visual perspective thanks to the power of the Sega CD accessory, I also love the soundtrack and for the most part the game play is really good but certain areas I feel could have been better designed and as for the randomly traveling through time I’m sure there is a simple explanation for it but I just cannot personally figure it out.

So with all that said I’m going to give the game an average score of 6.6/10 its not a bad game its just not a Sonic game for me.

I hope you enjoyed this review of Sonic CD for the Sega CD

Yoshi’s Crafted World (2019) Review

3max

Yoshi’s Crafted World is the eight installment in the Yoshi series of video games and it is the follow up to the Wii U game Yoshi’s Wooly World, it was developed by Good Feel and was published by Nintendo on the Nintendo Switch in March 2019.

yoshicraftedprev-blogroll-1550255904414_1280w

The Yoshi’s are living happily on Yoshi’s Island, a magical artifact called the sundream stone is beloved by the Yoshi’s. The artifact is filled with magical gems which can make someones dreams come true.

One unfortunate day the naughty baby Bowser and his henchman Kamek steal the sundream stone, the Yoshi’s try to stop the robbery which ends with the gems being scattered across the island, leaving the inhabating Yoshi’s to race baby Bowser and Kamek to collect the gems.

yoshis-crafted-world-overview-trailer_e83k

The game play for the most part is your standard 2.5D platformer with regular Yoshi game play, your main goal is to get from beginning to end of each stage by eating enemies to turn them into eggs and then throwing those eggs to either kill other enemies or to find secrets and collect items, however there is a little more meat to this game which makes it stand out compared to previous titles.

Yoshi's Crafted World

The biggest change in gameplay is that you can now revisit a level and go through it backwards allowing you to see items and scenery that you couldn’t see before, the main idea of these levels is that you need to find poochy’s missing puppies, every flipped level has three puppies to find and doing so will allow you get more smiley flowers.

Smiley flowers are hidden in the levels, the majority of them are very easy to find but some are much trickier, you need to collect these flowers in order to gain access to the various locations in the game.

After you beat a world you can go back through the stages to find specific items as part of a scavenger hunt and in this mode if you find the requested item you will given a new smiley flower, this is a lot of fun to do but it does get tedious after a while. I wish they gave you a checklist instead of making you replay each stage multiple times as it becomes a bit of drag after an hour or so of seeing the same scenery.

Yoshis-Crafted-World-Review-Co-op-640x360

Another collectible in the game are costumes, these can be purchased from gashapon machines in each world, every world has 10 unique costumes which can help Yoshi in tougher areas of the game.

You dont need to collect all of this extra stuff and I dont really think its worth the time unless you want the game to feel a little bit longer but I will say that compared to Wooly World the collection aspect of Crafted World is much more entertaining.

yoshi-switch-co-op.jpg.optimal

The best part of the game for me has got to be its wonderfully creative visual style, everything in the game apart from a few enemies is made out of a craft whether its paper mache, origami, carpentry or even balloons everything is so charming its hard not to want to play the game just to see how creative the developers have been.

The soundtrack is nice to listen too and it fits the style of game, there isnt any really memorable tracks here but the simple melodies and the cute tunes helps to make the game feel more relaxing until the last hour or so of the campaign.

Yoshi’s Crafted World is a simple but brilliant game, it is a lot of fun and can be enjoyed by players of all ages. It has easy to learn controls, is a treat to look at and has plenty of content before and after fishing the main story. There is enough bonus stuff that it can easily double the length of the campaign. The only issue I have is the scavenger hunts you can do because as previously stated it gets boring to revisit the same stages constantly but with that in mind I would say that this is one of Yoshi’s greatest video games yet and it is well worth its price tag.

9.8/10

I hope you enjoyed this review of Yoshi’s Crafted World

Among the Sleep (2014) Review

591258345bafe3ad8b7f4b47

Among the Sleep is a survival horror game, it was developed and published by Krillbite Studios and was released on PC and Xbox One in 2014, Play Station 4 in 2015 and will be released on the Nintendo Switch in May 2019.

2920d37170d744dd82cc918f287f896108003cbaa4a4c2670ab8f4f3e1f2122e

In the game you play as a child that is celebrating his second birthday, the celebration is disturbed by a knock at the front door, the child’s mother becomes angry after answering the door and the conversation becomes distorted and muffled, the mother comes back with a gift and takes the child upstairs, before giving the child his present the phone rings and the mother leaves the room to answer the call.

The gift is a sentient toy bear that climbs out of the box and asks the child to find him, after finding the teddy, the child hides in the closet before being discovered by his mother who puts him to bed, the child wakes up to find the bear being taken away by an unforeseen force which issues the child to find teddy once again which is when he realises his mother is missing and an adventure to find her begins.

apps.45208.66102710986666865.f3f95329-edb8-4378-a10c-f93b88b105d1

The gameplay takes the player into a realm of memories and fear, a dark land where you are hunted my mysterious figures which represent trauma the child has witnessed over the two years of his life, teddy takes him into this place to find memories of his mother hoping that the memories will finally allow mother and child to be reunited.

78072a67-a158-44fa-8248-a00cb4d62f81

There are lots of puzzles to solve and many places to discover, the game is not as scary as you may imagine but the mystery and sense of being lost in an usual and dark world makes the atmosphere creepy and very memorable.

apps.50799.66102710986666865.f3f95329-edb8-4378-a10c-f93b88b105d1

The world of the game is really fun to explore and the various areas make sure that nothing gets boring. On a graphical standpoint they could be better in some areas, in general they are quite good but not anything special for this gaming generation, some graphical details are great but others seem pix-elated especially at a close distance.

The soundtrack is not very memorable in my opinion, nothing really grabbed me but I wouldn’t consider it bad.

Among the Sleep is a really interesting game as its not often that a survival horror is from the perspective of a child but apart from this the game was a bit mediocre in my opinion, the game play dragged out little for me and even though I enjoyed the multiple areas of the game I really was not interested enough to want to do more than the main story, you can collect drawings in the game but they dont do much and can be easily skipped.

Among the Sleep may not be one of the best survival horror games I have played but if you can get it cheap then the three hour long content may just be worth your while.

5.4/10

I hope you enjoyed this review of Among the Sleep

Book Review: A Whole New World by Liz Braswell

images

A Whole New World is the first of Disney’s Twisted Tales book series, It was written by Author Liz Braswell and was released on September 1st 2015. The book follows the story of Aladdin if he had never kept the lamp after the cave of wonders.

magic-lamp-from-the-story-of-aladdin-with-genie-appearing-in-blue-smoke-concept-for-wishing-luck-a_u-l-q103irw0Readers will be taken deep into Aladdin’s past which is something that wasnt really touched upon in the Disney animated movie. The book teaches the reader about Aladdin’s mother and his younger days. Author Liz Braswell describes Agrabah in a way that older readers can connect with, its a tough city that is rough and at times dangerous, the poor people are dying every day because of a lack of food and un-sanitary living conditions. The city has been neglected due to the Sultan being selfish and caring more for his toys than the people he vowed to protect.

The book at first follows the story of the movie but after the scene in the Cave of Wonders Aladdin is left without the lamp and the story of Aladdin takes a very different and much darker turn. This version of the story has scenes of Death, Pain, Suffering and Violence, beloved characters from the film are met with a lot of misfortune and some of them are left to an even worse fate, so for younger readers I would suggest reading the book with them and making it clear that only the Disney movie is canon and the events in the book are not to be taken to seriously.

But with all this in mind I really enjoyed this book, I felt it dragged on at times but all in all it was a good read for fans of the movie and it can still be enjoyed if you are yet to see the film.

Outlast (2013) Review

2436940-outlast

Outlast is a Survival Horror game, it was created and published by Red Barrels and was released on PC in 2013 before being released onto other systems shortly after.

n3SsNv

You play the game as Miles Upshur a journalist who makes the foolish mistake to investigate the psychiatric hospital Mount Massive Asylum. Once inside of the Asylum Miles discovers that the inmates have all escaped and Miles is trapped inside of the Asylum leaving him no choice but to try and find a way out while avoiding death.

TVl3Pz

During his investigation Miles needs to travel throughout the asylum, trying to find an exit.

iDIP5l

Documents can be collected in the game, they provide information about the games characters and the Murk-off Corporation who are important to the plot of the game, however these documents do not need to be collected or read to enjoy the games experience.

5blG4U

The most difficult part of the game is not trying to hide from the variously dangerous inmates that try to end your life, its the fact that the game is extremely dark in areas and the player needs to use night vision on their camera in order to navigate through the darkness however they have limited battery power and will need to find batteries to keep the power going. This is made extremely difficult in the later game as the batteries appear less frequently and enemies appear more often give the player less time to look for them properly.

The visuals in Outlast are exceptionally good and an excellent blend of the outstanding graphics, horrifying visuals and the eerie sounds that you hear in the darkness help to make Outlast a scary game but I wouldn’t say its as scary as some other games that I have played.

Outlast is an ok game, it is far from amazing and in my opinion could be skipped unless you really want to play it, It has fantastic visuals and good sound effects but the the game is very short and has a mediocre soundtrack and story and I didn’t find the characters very interesting however I did have fun with the game I just wish there was more too it and perhaps that it was a little bit longer. 6/10

I hope you enjoyed this review of Outlast
